So I bought the dry ice we are trying to see which comes first...
The items or the ice? To freeze The bag says items to freeze on the bottom a layer of insulation then the dry ice. To keep cool Dry ice on bottom insulation then the items... I am trying it this week on the back porch to see how long it lasts. My pudding in the cooler goes to crap after 1 day. ![]() |

So far I have layered bottom to top frozen bacon, pork bones that tarter will love anyway, and a few leftover pudding shots from last time. Sunday's paper in between then the dry ice. No towel since it is in its bag from the store...
I need input or I'll let it be and see what the next few days... advise me please me :) You know my j-e-l-l-o is important to me... the pudding really doesn't like to just be kept "cool". I will be making it this week for next weekend at Razor Rd. Camping with Tamangelo's the freezer has food in it. I need an alternative. Portable freezers are pricey :) |

Try not to open cooler too much, dry ice dosent melt, it evaporates. The towel around the dry ice bag is to insulate the dry ice as much as possible....

Jodie,
put the dry ice on the bottom, lay your items on top, then place more dry ice on top. Sprinkle a small layer of regular ice below the top layer of dry ice.(it should freeze almost solid) Strabo is 100% correct, opening the lid is it's worst enemy. keep it closed for a 24 to 36 hours and it should stay cold |

Jody, just get the shots out to Rasor then you can put them in my freezer, I have nothing in there but some ice (for my drinks)

24 hours and nothing is soft... its working. I put it on the back porch in the sun just to test it.
items on bottom then paper then the dry ice on top. dry ice is still there too. |
