Can I just use my OEM hitch and add an extension (<2') to pull my flat bed or do I have to upgrade?

I need to figure this out before I buy my rear Torklift tie down.

In the end it might cost me more to outfit the truck, than what I paid for the camper:vib::vib::vib::vib::vib:

Go to a hitch builder and have them build you a 2.5" reciever. They will weld it on. The one i had put on the excursion was rated at 25000/2500 with a warranty. Had Eckhart build it.

Custom hitch eh? Do you guys remember how much they charged? Maybe they can incorporate a rear tie down.

Thanks fellas.

Yeah Mikey go that way, I wouldn't use your stock hitch with that much weight, they can build whatever you want and will guarantee it

Was going to ask the dude who sold me my camper how much he wants for his SuperHitch. They are legit and he was trying to sell it to me. He has mid 2000's Chevy Dually and I think it will work on a longbed. Won't work on my 2011 frame and the 2011's have a real nice stocker. With a 4ft hitch extender I'll be paying close attention to it though.

If his dually was a short bed it would work.

Mikey just FYI I've cracked 2 factory hitches pulling my 26 footer on both of my trucks.

I've had good luck with my Putnam xdr but lately have been thinking of having one custom built for me and welded on.

Having 38' hanging off 6 5/8's bolts is kinda scuury!

Hitch on my 2011 3500 DRW is a serious upgrade on my 2005 2500 SRW hitch. Thinking I'll be fine with my stock hitch, but I'll be watching it.

Yes, 2.5" and huge ratings. No I knew it wouldn't work for me so I never asked about price. I'm not sure which hitch it is but I could ask him. It's all set for a camper though, with the dual receivers for hitch extension and the side receivers for the camper tie downs. I can ask him when he delivers though if your ok with all that added crap. Or maybe Buford could use it, think it would bolt up to his truck.

Sure did. He's the same guy who sold me the camper. He has so much shit he cant find the short extension:vib: I even helped him go through his shit.

I think im going to go with the original super hitch (17K#). My flat bed is rated at 14K#. It will also save me a few bucks over the 20K# magnum.

Just want to do it right the first time. New hitch = rear tie down and will be good to tow with an extension.
